A couple enjoyed a limo ride, helicopter tour, wine tasting, and fancy dinner Wednesday By Christina Hernandez | Wednesday, Feb 8, 2012 | Updated 11:25 PM EST (nbcmiami.com)
Valentine's Day is less than a week away. Do you have something planned for your sweetheart?
If not, no need to fear. A new Miami business, Cupid Dates, will
plan your date ... for hire.
A limo ride, helicopter tour, wine tasting, and fancy dinner.
When Gonzalo and Erika Garcia woke up, they had no idea what they were in store
for.
"It'll be a good chance to connect with her in ways that
we can't normally connect because of our lifestyle that we live," Gonzalo
Garcia said.
Both work full-time and have four kids at home,
so Wednesday the 8th was their Valentine's Day – thanks to
"Cupid Dates."
"We very rarely go out on dates because we're so busy with the kids and work," Erika Garcia said. "It's a nice opportunity to get away."
After being picked up by a stretch limo, "a date in a
box" revealed their first stop.
"The only way to see Miami is a view from the top – Helicopters
Over Miami," Erika read.
The new business doesn't match-make. Instead, your date is
planned. From start to finish, it's all a surprise.
"Our specialty is designing custom dates for couples
based on their mutual interests," founder Victoria Babun said. "They will be
chauffeured around town and dropped off at three to five separate locations.
This service is packaged, and then turned into a product through our signature product,
'date in a box.' We like to call it a treasure chest of love. You'll find 10
different special items in the box, including the 'date pack' that will lead
you on your journey."
Babun got the idea after doing something similar for her
parents.
"They do not know what they're doing, but they are
guaranteed to do something that they absolutely love because we've already
taken in all of their information," the former event planner said.
After their helicopter tour of South
Florida, the Garcias landed at Schnebly Winery and Brewery. There,
the married couple of 13 years toured the only winery in South
Florida and did some wine tasting.
Then, the "date in a box" let the couple know their
special day would end with dinner at Truluck's in Brickell.
The couple arrived in a limo, marking an end to what they
said was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
"They took care of all the little steps that I
would forget," Gonzalo Garcia said.
"It just makes us at ease ... to just enjoy our
time and not have to worry about anything," his wife added. "By
far, it's been wonderful."
The "Cupid dates" start at $2,000 and go up from
there depending on what you are interested in doing.
