Navigate the Miami International Boat Show like a pro.
The Miami International Boat Show docks
here from Feb. 16-20. The 71st version of the show, which brings
together more than 200 exhibitors showcasing the latest powerboats, sail
boats, engines and marine electronics and accessories for the 2012
boating season, takes place at three loactions:
*Miami Beach Convention Center,
1901 Convention Center Dr., Miami Beach.
*Sea Isle Marina & Yachting Center,
1635 N. Bayshore Dr., Miami.
*Strictly Sail Miami at Miamarina at Bayside,
401 Biscayne Blvd., Miami.
Tickets: Admission is $35 on Premiere Day,
Thursday, Feb. 16; $18 on other days; $32 for a two-day pass or $80 for a
five-day pass; free for children 15 and under. All tickets can be
purchased at the the Miami Beach Convention Center or online. One ticket
is good for all locations.
Eats: A great spot for food scouting is Strictly Sail because you will have a choice of all the restaurants at Bayside, but the Miami Beach Convention Center is located close enough to Lincoln Road that you have a bounty of options close at hand.
Parking: Parking is always a problem during the boat
show, so your best bet is to park your car at AmericanAirlines Arena,
or in Bayside's garage and take a free shuttle bus among the three show
locations. There is also a park and ride available across from the
Adrienne Arsht Center at 1300 Biscayne Blvd. which will have shuttles
available.
Shuttles: Courtesy Water Taxi service is available
between the park and ride at the American Airlines Arena, Sea Isle
Marina & Yachting Center, and Strictly Sail Miami at Miamarina at
Bayside. Shuttle service is available between all locations from 9 a.m.
until an hour after closing each day.
New this year: Navigate the show using your iPhone
or smartphone by downloading their app at iTunes or, for Androids and
other smartphones, set your mobile browser to m.miamiboatshow.com. You
can find maps of all three show locations, event schedules, product
listings, exhibitor listings, directions and real-time alerts and more.
Expert tip: Unless you are seriously interested in
buying a boat, you could skip the convention center and get a feeling
for the marine version of conspicuous consumption by visiting the other
two sites.
