Enjoy a Halloween "prequel" at our 2nd Annual Howl-O-Ween Festival featuring a day full of activities for everyone in the family especially your four legged friends. Canines cavort at this all-day Pet Fair whose proceeds benefit the Friends Forever Humane Society and Pets' Trust. There'll be local pet adoption agencies, pet boutiques, family friendly activities, food, dog agility demonstrations and a costume parade (human and pet) with prizes awarded in several categories. Admission, $3 adults, $2 children 2-17 and a special $10 donation requested for Pet Costume Contest Participation.

Family Fridays are back and better than ever. The fun begins with a trip to the Petting Zoo and our famous FLASHLIGHT TOUR. What a treat for all the senses as you smell the night air, hear the sounds of tree frogs and watch the gardens come to life during this after dark extravaganza. You can navigate our winding paths through the lower garden, partake in some “eats” and “treats” from our concession tables and the night concludes in the Banyan Bowl with our featured film at 8:00 p.m. This month's animated masterpiece is Dr. Seuss' The Lorax, rated (G). General admission, $5 and children under 2 enter free.

Dine and dance under stars at historic Pinecrest Gardens’ inaugural gala on Saturday, November 3rd at 7:00 p.m. The elegant evening will commence at Lakeview Terrace, where VIPs, taste-makers and local celebrities will sip signature cocktails provided by Bacardi and dine on gourmet cuisine provided by Macy’s Catering. Entertainment will include stilt walkers, jugglers, fire-eaters and an exclusive performance by renowned jazz diva, Debby Orta. The evening will proceed with dancing and music in the meadow, which will be transformed with ringside tables and dance floor. Music will be provided by the Continental Brass Band and DJ Mike Pileggi. As the night draws to a close, attendees will receive luxurious swag bags--no one will leave empty handed. Miami-Dade County Public Schools in partnership with The Gardens and Dade Art Educators Association, Inc., present Nature as Designer: Where Science and Nature Collide! Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Office of Innovation & Accountability-Division of Life Skills invites you to the Awards Reception to be held Thursday, October 18, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Approximately 200 students in grades K-12 and 15 visual art teachers will be exhibiting their work through October 31st, 2012 at beautiful Pinecrest Gardens, Hibiscus Room Gallery. Throughout time renowned artists have been recognized for their outstanding work in interpreting science and nature through art. Artists discovered the beauty and richness of nature through their thoughtful palette selections and compositions. The work of Albert Durer, Leonardo Da Vinci, Marianne North and Charles Darwin along with Guiseppe Arcimboldo and Edward Weston have reflected the social, historical and aesthetic context in which science and nature have been interpreted through design, color and expression. Science and nature are the source of inspiration for the talented artists being recognized during the opening ceremony.

"Creating Tile Mosaic Art for Your Garden"- Arts and flowers come together in this wonderful lecture, October 10, at 10:00 a.m. in the Hibiscus Room (Gardens Gallery). Local landscape designer and artist Sandy Roth from Sandyscapes will demonstrate the techniques needed to create your own garden art, such as decorative pots, birdbaths and more. Turn the ordinary into the extraordinary!
"Palm and Tree Care for the Home Landscape" - October 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Hibiscus Room at Pinecrest Gardens. Join us again when Gardens Horticulturist Craig Morell will cover the tricks and tactics for keeping the trees and palms in your home landscape in tip-top shape. Learn the basics of fertilization, pest control, and plant selection to maintain and improve your landscape. Enjoy an hour of informative fun complete with refreshments. Free for all.

Children 6-10 years can learn all about plants through creative expression at each session. October 7th and 21st from 2:00-3:30 p.m. children will partake in our "Halloween Edition" and use plant materials to make Halloween decorations for their own home featuring bats, black cats, ghosts and pumpkins. All of our Botanical Arts and Crafts sessions are $5 per child which includes all their materials. Class size is limited to 20 so register your child today at 305-669-6990.

The CLEO Youth Task Force is holding a meeting on Saturday, October 27th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm in the Hibiscus Room (Gardens Gallery). Local high school and college students and community leaders are encouraged to join the conversation as we plan for upcoming events.

Even if you haven't registered as a volunteer yet, you are cordially invited to join us at our Volunteer Orientation and Tour Guide refresher course on Wednesday, October 3rd at 11:00 a.m. Learn about all the volunteer opportunities at the Gardens, learn about what it means to be a Pinecrest Gardens Volunteer, meet the Pinecrest Gardens Staff, some of the Gardens' very special friends and learn more about what you can do to help our Gardens grow. Applications for interested parties will be available at the event or click here to download an application from our website.
Farmers Market: Fresh Produce & More

Enjoy the fresh air while selecting your fresh produce, spices, home-baked breads, hand-made pastas, organic products and much more at Pinecrest Gardens' Farmers Market, every Sunday. Each week we will be joined by more local fresh produce growers as we head into November when the full-blown Farmers Market will be back in full swing. The market is open from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and admission is Free. While you are there, enjoy the purchases you have made at one of our many picnic areas in the Gardens, or overlooking the magnificent view on Lakeview Terrace.
Food Truck Invasion at the Gardens
Select Saturdays 11:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
Indulge your appetite for Food Truck Fare on Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m. located in the Gardens Parking Lot. You can choose from many of South Florida's very best food trucks, serving up seafood, stir fry, burgers, Italian and Latin menus, desserts and more. Parking and entry to the food truck event is free and we recommend enjoying your meals inside Pinecrest Gardens at one of our four shaded picnic table areas. This takes the notion of meals on wheels to a whole new level.
