So I mentioned in my previous blog that I would be dedicating a special post on this event since my hubby (Guille) and my bestie's husband (Gordie) were both doing the
Tarzan Cup Race. "It was Awesome!" Well that's what they said LOL.
This is the second race they have participated in having done the
Warrior Dash in December. They are becoming quite the experts at this
race thing. The Warrior Dash was 3 miles and this Tarzan Cup Race was 5K (3
miles) with lots of obstacles. Up next for the duo in February (2/25) is the Spartan Race 13K http://www.spartanrace.com/florida-obstacle-racing-super-spartan-miami.html 8 challenging miles at Oleta State Park(I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one). Go Guille & Gordie!!!!
TARZAN'S CUP Amelia Earhart Park, Miami Jan. 15, 2012
TARZAN’S CUP IS A HEART PUMPING, LEG BURNING, ARM SEARING, JUNGLE OBSTACLE ADVENTURE!
The course and obstacles change with every race, but the overall set-up is similar. The start/finish line is located at the main staging and spectator area. The course is an “out and back loop”. While running is an obvious component of each race, Tarzan’s Cup features far more obstacles than other races of this type. It can be described as 1 part Ninja Warrior , 1 part mud run and 1 part adventure race. Total fitness is an advantage over specialists. Each race course will feature several natural challenges and manmade obstacles. Natural challenges will include water crossings and mud “pits”. Be prepared to cross either via wading, swimming , crawling , ropes, “bridges” or any other way you can imagine. Water crossing will be limited to 10 yards maximum if swimming is required.
Manmade obstacles may be encountered “on trail” but you can expect up to 6 Tarzan themed obstacles in the “Jungle Jym” located beside the spectator and staging area. These obstacles may contain several rope challenges. It is called Tarzan’s Cup for a reason! While all of our obstacles are designed to challenge the fittest of the fit, alternatives will be available if participant is unable to complete the obstacle.
