2012 Summer Camp Guide

Believe it or not, camp season is upon us! Here’s a roundup of camps happening around town…

 

  • Actor’s Playhouse offers a summer theatre camp for kids 7-12. 305-444-9293; actorsplayhouse.org
  • Adventure Biscayne Camp at Miami Rowing Club treats kids to swimming, fishing, kayaking, field trips and a floating trampolines. $395 city of Miami residents, $495 non-Miami residents. 3601 Rickenbacker Cswy, Key Biscyane; 305-361-1505
  • Alexander Camp treats campers 1.5-12 to new activities and skills weekdays from 9am-3:30pm. Locations & hours vary by age group, call for info. 305-969-3974

  • Alliance Francaise gives kids 3-17 a dose of French “Je ne sais quoi’’ from June 11-Aug 10. Activities include art workshops and language immersion.

  • The Biltmore Culinary Academy welcomes kids 8-16 into its kitchen for a hands-on cooking camp from June 11- August 3. The day runs from 9am-2pm and subjects include kitchen safety, baking & techniques & ingredients of Italian and French cooking. 1200 Anastasia Ave, Coral Gables; 305-913-3131

  • Fairchild treats campers 6-12 to a natural adventure from June 11-July 20. Broken into two sessions & age groups (6-8 and 9-12), each camp explores experiments, garden crafts, nature games and scientific exploration. 10901 Old Cutler Rd, Coral Gables; 305-667-1651; fairchildgarden.org
  • Grow With Us offers a Conscious Kids camp focusing on teaching kids to connect with others and feel empowered during arts & crafts, yoga and other activities. Kids 3-6 are invited to four four-day sessions held June 18 to July 19 from 9am to noon. 8854-B SW 129 Terr, Kendall; 305-256-0333

  • Miami Children’s Theater offers two camps for munchkins from June 11-Aug 3. Little Stars at Pinecrest Gardens caters to kids 4-6 and Creative Camps in Kendall, Coral Gables and Miami Beach caters to kids 5-12.   • Miami Dade College treats kids 7-12 to assorted specialty camps covering sports, music, technology, art, robotics and dance at its various campuses. Click here or call 305-237-0651 for details.
  • Miami-Dade Parks is offering camps at 38 parks throughout the county from June 11-Aug 17. Choose between general recreation camps or specialty offerings like fishing, cheerleading, basketball, swimming or Zoofari. Camps run from 9am-5pm with early drop-offs and late pick-ups available.   • The Miami Rowing Center offers an Adventure Biscayne Camp for kids 5-17. Munchkins will fish, sail, kayak, swim, build sandcastles & take field trips. Call 305-361-1505 for info.
  • The Miami Seaquarium offers aquatic-themed fun from June 11-Aug 17. Hours run from 9am-4:30pm and subjects include Water, Water Everywhere, Animal Olympians & Conservation Crusaders. 305-361-5705.
