ABSOLUT Miami Vodka

ABSOLUT has created yet another new city-inspired vodka; this time around our very own Miami has been proofed and bottled; ABSOLUT MIAMI is infused with the flavors and essence of passionfruit and orange blossom. ABSOLUT MIAMI is a part of the limited edition ABSOLUT city-inspired collection. ABSOLUT VODKA celebrated the launch of ABSOLUT MIAMI with a blowout party held at none other than the iconic Fontainebleau Miami Beach on the ocean lawn; it may not have been your typical South Beach “dusk to dawn” party but the SOBE lifestyle credo was intact as ABSOLUT MIAMI paid homage to its new namesake city spirit known for its progressive and eccentric take on  creative processes. The eponymous cocktails that were served oceanside were ABSOLUT MIAMI Mojitos and ABSOLOUT MIAMI South Beach Breezes. Didn’t make the party? Launch party invite got lost in the mail? Go ahead and have your own ABSOLUT MIAMI party, recipes for the cocktails are below.

ABSOLUT MIAMI MOJITO
1.5 Parts ABSOLUT MIAMI
1 Part Simple Syrup
3/4 Parts Fresh Lime Juice
5 – 6 Mint Leaves
Top with Soda (about 1 oz)
In a mixing glass gently muddle mint leaves with simple syrup and lime juice. Add ABSOLUT MIAMI and ice. Shake and strain into a highball glass filled with ice. Top with soda and garnish with a mint sprig.

ABSOLUT MIAMI SOUTH BEACH BREEZE
2 parts ABSOLUT MIAMI
1.5 Part Fresh Orange Juice
1.5 Parts Fresh Pineapple Juice
Build over ice in a highball glass, and stir. Garnish with a pineapple spear and lime wedge.

Camping under the stars in Doral

Doral’s annual Camping Under the Stars event lets families get in the outdoor spirit without leaving town.

The City of Doral is hosting its eighth year of Camping Under The Stars. The event takes place Friday, Jan. 27 to Jan. 28 at J.C. Bermudez Park in Doral. Families have the chance to go camping just a short drive away from their home. The free annual event is just long enough — and close enough to home — for even non-outdoorsy types to get a taste of camping.

Fruit and Spice Festival

On Sunday, January 22 I attended the Fruit and Spice Festival.  It was truly awesome!  I took my mom and my girls and they loved it.  The Festival was $8 but, you know me since I'm always searching for a good bargain I purchased my Groupon for this festival for just $4 definitely worth it!  Living in Miami all my life I had heard about this park and visited the little store they have but had never actually walked inside boy, was I missing out.  See, my dad loved, loved fruit trees and anything to do with plants.  You can say our back yard was a mini fruit and spice park from avocado's, mango's, mamey, anon to peppers and lemons we had it. It was his passion.  Walking through the park brought back so many memories he really would have loved to have visited there.  They actually told my mom she had a great eye since she was one of the few who recognized one of the rare fruits at the park.

From the vendors, animal show, food, kids activities and my own memories it was truly a great day!  Here are some pictures from the event.
