What do Mint Juleps and Margaritas have in common? Very little, except that you can down both of them in scandalous quanities if you plan your weekend right. Saturday park yourself in a place where you can watch the horses run in the Kentucky Derby (broadcast begins at 4 p.m.) , then Sunday watch as the denizens revel in the Mexican army’s victory against the French at the Battle of Puebla in1862 which has snowballed into a huge celebration of all things Mexican (with special emphasis on its alcohol). Here are five venues for a weekend of jockeys and charros and sun bonnets and sombreros.
1.Bourbon Steak
Get in on the Kentucky Derby action at the tony Bourbon Steak inside the Turnberry Isle Resort with $5 mint juleps, prizes for the most creative hats and complimentary southern-style canapés including Louisiana-style hot wings, foie gras torchon and bacon & corn fritters. 19999 West Country Club Dr, Aventura; 786-279-6600

Federal Highway, Hallandale Beach, 954-378-0900.
